Contrary to popular belief, the U.S. is one of the largest oil-producing nations in the world, with an average daily production of around 8 million barrels. But because the production comes from around 533,000 wells scattered from Alaska to Louisiana, the average oil well produces just under 17 barrels per day. So next time you're using your gas-powered stovetop in your home, remember how much work went into that meal!
